Bibi’s Butterfly Day

Have you ever wondered how a butterfly begins? Bibi did, too, on a warm morning in the garden.

First, Bibi found tiny eggs resting on a leaf. They were small as dots, but they held a big surprise inside.

Inside the eggs, a baby caterpillar was growing. It was getting ready for its first tiny bite of leaf.

Soon, the caterpillar was very hungry. It nibbled and nibbled, growing bigger with every leaf it ate.

Day by day, the caterpillar grew longer and stronger. Bibi watched it move slowly along the branch like a wiggly ribbon.

Then something wonderful happened. The caterpillar found a quiet spot and hung still, getting ready for a big change.

A cocoon wrapped around the caterpillar like a tiny sleeping bag. Bibi whispered, “Rest well, little one.”

Inside the cocoon, the butterfly was growing and changing. We could not see it, but the quiet work was happening all the same.

After a while, the cocoon began to open. Bibi waited with wide eyes, wondering what would come out.

Out came a butterfly, stretching its new wings. It was Bibi, changed and beautiful, ready to meet the sky.

Bibi rested for a moment while her wings grew strong. Then she fluttered up, up, up into the air.

She visited flowers all around the garden. With each gentle stop, Bibi helped the blossoms bloom and shine.

Bibi remembered her journey from egg to caterpillar to cocoon to butterfly. Every step was part of her amazing growing story.
