Tilly’s First Song
Tilly wants to play guitar, but learning takes time. With a little practice each day, and encouragement from a friend, she keeps going until her first song finally comes together.
The next day, Tilly tried again. “One little practice at a time,” she told herself, and her fingers found a few more strings.

Some days the notes felt tricky. Tilly frowned, then took a breath and tried the same two notes again.

Just then, Tilly's friend Milo fluttered in through the open window. He hopped onto the stool and chirped, "Keep going, Tilly. Your fingers are learning." Tilly nodded and tried once more.

Tilly practiced a little each day. Some notes came out clear, and some still squeaked, but she kept smiling.

Milo listened and grinned. "That's it, Tilly. Doing a little every day makes it better."

Then Tilly moved to the garden practice spot. She sat in the sunshine. She took a slow, deep breath. Then she played the first line all the way through.
