"Let's go and find out together", said Bibi. On a leaf, Lucky found tiny butterfly eggs. They were small, round, and safe on the plant.
Page 2

Soon, the eggs hatched. Out came tiny caterpillars, also called larvae, and they began to eat leaves.
Page 3

The caterpillars grew bigger and bigger. They ate leaves and rested and grew until they were ready to move on to the next stage.
Page 4

Then each caterpillar made a chrysalis, also called a pupa. Inside, it changed quietly and safely.

Lucky waited patiently. She learned that butterflies do not rush their changes; they grow in their own time.

At last, the chrysalis opened. A butterfly came out, resting its wings until they were ready to fly.

When the wings were dry, the butterfly fluttered into the air. Lucky smiled, because she knew the journey now.

Lucky learnt that grown butterflies use their long mouthparts to drink sweet nectar. "Butterflies like to sip nectar from flowers," Bibi said.

Lucky purred. Now she knew the butterfly life cycle: egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and butterfly. 'What a beautiful journey,' she said.
